細長い支柱から信号機が斜めにぐいーんと伸びていて、南国のおおらかさを感じさせる。こういう植物生えてそう。
右の写真は後ろから撮ったもの。やっぱり先に行くに従って上がっている。どうしてなんだろう？
YOB氏によると、サイパンの信号機事情は、
「信号機は、最近（といっても10年以内くらい）にどんどん増えたようで、15年前に訪れたときは中央道にさえ信号機がやっと３つあるくらいだったそうです。（旅行の同行者談）
今ではホテル前、免税店前、ショッピングセンター前などに、横断歩道、信号機をしょっちゅう見られるようになりました。
それでも車社会のわりにのんびりな国（地域）なので、道を渡ろうとするとタクシーも乗用車もす〜っと停まって歩行者に譲ってくれます。観光客だから大事にしてくれるのかな？」
Traffic lights 'grow' from long thin polls. They look like tropical trees to me.
Why do they 'grow' upwards?
My friend YOB, who travelled there, told me,
In Saipan the number of traffic lights increased rapidly within a decade. When I visited there 15 years ago (in 1992) there were only a couple of lights.
Nowadays there are many traffic lights, in front of hotels, duty free shops, shopping malls, etc.
However, the people there are not hectic (like other car-countries) and they are willing to wait for pedestrians to cross.
Or are they just nice to toursits?
