こちらは押しボタン（多分）。中央分離帯（長い横断歩道の途中で止まれる島）にあった。
上になにやらギリシャ語が書いてあるが、さっぱりわからない。
押せばなんとかなるだろうと、何も考えずに押してみたら案の定信号が変わってくれた。
海外なんてそんなもんでしょ。

I think this is a push-button for traffic lights.
I found this at a central divider (in the middle of a road).
There's instruction in Greek but Greek is Greek to me!
Although I learned ancient Greek for two years, all I could understand was το 'the' and και 'and' but such partial knowledge didn't help me at all.
So I pushed the button without knowing what it was, and the light turned blue.
This is how we survive in a foreign country, isn't it?

これは信号機……の標識。近くに信号機があるってことなんだろうか？
普通の見通しのよい道路なんだからそんなものいらないと思うのに。
下はおそらく「横断歩道」のマークだと思われる。
あっても車は止まっちゃくれなさそうだが。
信号待ちの車なんか平気で横断歩道の上、どころか交差点の真ん中にも止まってるしなあ。

This is a sign of traffic lights. What for?
Generally such signs appear where it's hard to see ahead, but the road was very straight with no obstacles.

I guess the yellow one with a man means 'crossing road'.
I don't think cars waited for pedestrians in Athens, for they often stopped on the crossing road obstructing pedestrians.

おまけ。ギリシャの踏み切り。
これはアテネ→カラバカの車内で撮ったので、普通と逆向きになってしまった。
赤と白のバーがポップでかわいい。キャンディバーみたいだ。黄色と黒よりこっちのがいいな。紅白でめでたいから、日本もこの配色にしてほしい。

余談だが、日本のガイドブックだと「カランパカ」（世界遺産メテオラの近くの町）と書いてあるが、現代ギリシャ語での発音はカラバカ。
Καλαμπάκαをアルファベットで書くとKalampakaだが、mpはbとして発音されるのでKalabaka「カラバカ」となる。
旅行から6年後、ようやくギリシャ人に会ったので真相を知ることができた。嬉しい。
このページに使われているギリシャ語もその人に教えてもらった。ありがとうございます。

This is railway crossing in Greece. It's not traffic light?? Doesn't matter.
It was taken in opposite way because I took this picture from a train going from Athens to Kalabaka.

The bar with red and white looks cute. It looks like a candy cane.
In Japan the bars are painted in yellow and blue but I prefer red and white.

Καλαμπάκα, in Roman alphabet 'Kalampaka' looks like pronounced 'kalampaka' but in reality it is pronounced as 'kalabaka'.
This is because in modern Greek μπ (mp) represent 'b' sound.
One Greek guy told me so it must be true.
It took me 6 years to get acquainted with a Greek who could tell me its pronunciation, and now I am very glad to know the truth :) Ευχαριστώ!
